SNOQUALMIE – Salish Lodge & Spa was honored by Condé Nast Traveler readers as one of the top 75 hotels in the United States in the magazine’s “Best of the World” November issue.

Condé Nast Traveler editors noted that today the nation boasts 10 times the number of superb hotels it had when they introduced the readers’ poll in 1988. Despite these odds, the Salish Lodge achieved the ranking of No. 51 among the nation’s top 75 hotels, once again earning a place on this premier encapsulation of the nation’s best lodging establishments.

“It’s Salish’s rich heritage of romance, mystique and intimacy that brings guests back time and again,” said Sam Johnson, general manager of Salish Lodge & Spa. “The property’s timeless attraction is a reflection of the staff’s dedication to providing the utmost Salish experience every time a guest steps through our doors.”

Johnson said the predominant reason the lodge made the cut for the second year in a row is that it is becoming more nationally known.

“The draw is coming from an even greater area,” he said. “It used to just be the Seattle area, now it’s more regional and national.”

The lodge continues to create a quality experience, thanks to the employees, he said.

“We have a very low turnover percentage. It continues to get better and better when you have the tenure,” he said.

The Salish just had its seven-year management agreement with Coastal Hotel Group renewed for another 10 years, which Johnson said “solidifies the fact that the ownership is pleased with how the property is performing. It also shows that they have a commitment to a long-term connection with the community.”

He said there is no news on the expansion project, but that the Salish is looking forward to a “huge Thanksgiving” and plans to serve between 700 and 800 people.

“We have 240 turkeys arriving early next week,” he said.
