Safe upgrades for Si View

Electricians Kelvin Lung, Ben Bullerwell and George Anderson installed more than 30 tamper-proof outlets on Thursday, May 7, in the Si View gym, stage, dance room, fireside room and other areas of the building.

In the vein of “Extreme Home Makeover,” the Accurate team arranged their “Plug In” as a challenge to the rest of the community to help others. Accurate president Kelvin Lung was inspired by President Obama’s call to volunteer.

“It would really spur more people to volunteer if they saw other positive examples of community commitment,” he said.

Accurate Electric came up with the idea of helping Si View at a weekly staff meeting, while tossing around ideas on ways to actively contribute to the area.

Staff at Accurate and their families participate in activities at Si View. The center has served as a recreational center for the Valley, offering senior water aeorobics, swim lessons for children, sports, teen and family nights, and other programs.

The electricians did their work during the early morning, to avoid interrupting Si View classes and activities.
