    “I just got this thing dialed in,” says Marinos, taking down the lightweight, khaki-colored ARAK carbine.

    Used by the U.S. military for tight, close-quarters work, the short-barreled semi-automatic is accurate to 200 yards and is the envy of his staff.

    Marinos, who opened Bigg Dogg Firearms July 17 at 111 W. North Bend Way, loves the excitement, skill and legacy of firearms.

    King County Sheriff’s Deputies are readying for a round of annual liquor patrols, starting in August and continuing over the next few months.

    North Bend Police Chief Mark Toner reports that deputies have started notifying local sales points, reminding them of the rules and ways that they can avoid illegal sales to minors. Random stings using teenage ‘agents’ will follow, putting vendors to the test.

    Puget Sound Energy is offering electric customers who live in manufactured homes and use electric forced-air as their primary heat source the chance to seal up leaky ductwork and receive other energy efficiency upgrades for free.

    The service offered to PSE customers in Carnation, Issaquah, Fall City and surrounding areas has up to a $500 value per customer and could reduce their energy bills by approximately 30 percent.

    When Cindy Walker bought the North Bend Theatre in 2006, she planted herself in the heart of historic downtown. The theater, which was built in 1941, is one of the oldest businesses in the city and one of the classic icons of the community.

    “I still hear stories about people who had their first kiss in the theater during the 1940s,” said Walker. “Sixth and seventh graders have been riding their bikes to the movie theater for the last 60 years.”
