What started as purely inspiration has become a reality with the recent completion of the Pacific Northwest’s only treehouse massage studio, Heavensfield Massage and Body Work. In 2004, business owner Cosette Dawna Rae graduated from the Northwest School of Massage with a degree and a dream. Having experienced the incredible benefits of connecting with nature during a massage, Rae sought to blend the world of body work with the healing energy of a natural setting.

Nestled in the heart of Fall City, the idea of a healing center in the forest materialized with a 40-foot suspension bridge, a platform and a gazebo.

The concept was so successful among local residents that Rae branched out this year and decided to build her entire studio in the trees. Contractor Gary Simmons of Heavensfield Design and Renovation completed the work earlier this spring. When asked what the most difficult part of the project was, Simmons replied, “The logistics of getting those massive beams through the forest and up into the trees without harming the natural setting made for some strenuous activity well deserving of a massage.”

Clients are free to choose from several massage and spa treatments including Ashiatsu Oriental therapy, a favorite with clients. Barefoot Ashiatsu massage is performed with the therapist’s feet using lotions and oils inducing a deep state of relaxation. Other modalities offered include Swedish massage, light deep tissue, hotstone, and traditional Shiatsu.
