Making a good first impression is a huge contributing factor to landing a job. In fact, one’s appearance is an essential part in making a favorable influence during a job interview.

“We know how important a job interview is,” said Crystal Kandravi, district manager for dressbarn in North Bend. “That’s why we partnered with our local Dress for Success affiliate to help disadvantaged women make that first impression a good one.”

During Dress for Success’s Send One Suit Week, held March 30 through April 5, dressbarn stores across the country will collect clothing from customers and donate them to underprivileged women in the local community seeking career development support.

Dress for Success’s mission is to promote the economic independence of disadvantaged women by providing professional attire, a network of support and the career development tools to help women thrive in work and in life. The nonprofit organization solves the problem confronting women trying to enter the workforce: without a job, how can you afford a suit? But, without a suit, how can you get a job? The company encourages local residents to donate one new or nearly new business suit to help another woman enter the workforce.

“We didn’t hesitate when given the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of women right here in the community where we do our business,” Kandravi said. “This is a great opportunity for our customers and associates, too. We want everyone to realize that when they make a donation, they are giving another woman the confidence to enter or return to the workplace, make a professional first impression, and land a job that could change her life.”
