CC’s Espresso and Ice Creamery needs new ice cream freezer

For 20 years, Cindy Blackmore has managed C.C.’s Espresso and Ice Creamery in Duvall. According to her friend Terri DeSelle, Blackmore is one of the most giving people she has ever known and is one of the first to lend a hand to her community.

Now, the community hopes to do the same for her as she is raising money to replace the 35-year-old freezer that broke down.

The freezer will cost $11,000 to replace. The shop is relying heavily on donations via a GoFundMe campaign, which is organized by DeSelle. With the goal of raising $10,000, they are about $7,000 short as of this writing.

For now, Blackmore is doing the best she can without the freezer. By using coolers, ice cream is still being offered, but not all the flavors are available. Business has been lost, but despite the current lack of a functional freezer, CC’s is still up and running.

Families come in, parents sit down, sipping their coffee while their kids are eating ice cream. Whether it’s after school, church, or a reason to get out of the house, for two decades, CC’s has been the place to go.

“When people come in from out of town, that’s the first place people take them,” DeSelle said. “It has always been a gathering place.”
