DUVALL _ Braithburn Academy in Duvall is under new ownership.

The owner, Shannon Burkhalter, bought the center, which offers

child-care, preschool and before- and after-school programs, in April.

Burkhalter decided to make a career change after the birth of

her daughter. She spent 17 years in the child-care field, holding positions

as a teacher, center director and district manager, and wants to use her

experience to create excellent programs. Her academy focuses on positive

guidance, developmentally appropriate learning, safety and fun.
