As the Snoqualmie Valley Record’s new office coordinator and reporter, respectively, Terri Barclay and Dan Catchpole help provide quality customer service and chase the news of the Valley.

Terri Barclay

Since becoming the Valley Record’s office coordinator in February, Terri Barclay has become the newspaper’s unsung hero, making sure its day-to-day operations run smoothly. Terri joined the staff from Mount Si High School, where she served as the Associated Student Body’s financial secretary.

Terri has put her cheery demeanor, down-to-earth personality and industriousness to work in the Valley Record’s office. Like the rest of the paper’s staff, she is always ready to jump in wherever needed. In addition to running the office, Terri manages the paper’s worship and service directories and helps out with advertisements.

The Moses Lake native has lived in Snoqualmie with her husband for four years. She likes the Valley’s beauty and distinct seasons, and often goes for hikes with her two dogs, a golden retriever and a corgi.

“It’s an unusual pair,” Terri said.

But they’re easier to keep up with than her children. Terri’s daughter graduated from Mount Si High School. Her oldest son lives in Snoqualmie, and her younger son lives in Nevada.

Terri appreciates the close-knit community of the Valley.

“In a small town, you get to know people,” she explained.

Working for the Valley Record will give her the chance to get to know even more of the community, she said.

Dan Catchpole

Get the news. Tell the truth. Don’t be dull.

Those are the guidelines Dan Catchpole tries to follow as a reporter for the Valley Record. He brings to the position several years of experience in journalism, including time with the Associated Press and Seattle Post-Intelligencer.

“I went into journalism because I get to learn something new every week,” he said.

Since joining the Valley Record in February 2009, Dan has enjoyed learning the ins and outs of the Valley’s community. He looks forward to reporting the Valley’s many stories, ranging from education to economic to environmental, among other subjects.

“The Valley Record’s staff is amazing. Everyone is dedicated to producing the best paper possible, and really believes in Snoqualmie Valley as a community,” Dan said.
