Baseball

‘C’ baseball team off to strong start

The Mount Si “C” baseball team stands with a 4-4 record. On April 5, they took on Mercer Island and won 6-0. Dan Reeves had a double in the game as did Ian Atkinson who also had two RBIs. Thomas Taylor hit a grand slam and recorded a total of four RBIs. Blake Pipking and Jon Whims pitched.

Next came Skyline who topped Mount Si 11-7. Brian Olson and Ryan Utesch pitched the game. Mac Donnel had an RBI double while teammates Kevin Sandin and Mike Ushler both hit doubles. Taylor had two home runs in the game for three RBIs.

From there the ‘Cats took on Newport, whom they beat 4-3. Reeves pitched four innings giving up one run on three hits and recorded the win. Taylor pitched three innings in relief and then Blake Pipkin came in for the save, getting the last two outs in the bottom of the seventh with two runners on.

Taylor continued a great week with a double and a single. Sean Bothell added a two-run home run in the third inning.


Softball

JV loses to Liberty

The Mount Si JV softball team lost to Liberty last week 2-12. The Wildcats found themselves down 2-7 after four innings. Faith Hutcherson and Camille Weber had RBI’s but four errors in the fifth inning doomed a comeback.
