Tolt girls lose to SMS
The Tolt Middle School girls’ track team lost to Snoqualmie Middle School on May 2 by a score of 170-122, but still brought home several top-three finishes.
Shantel Rassmussen jumped 4 feet, 2 inches in the high jump, warranting first place. Patience Anderson was second in the high jump with an effort of 3 feet, 10 inches.
Other first-place winners were Kelsi Coltom in the 800-meter with a time of 2:51, and Kim Drew in the 400-meter with a time of 1:12. Drew also won the long jump with a leap of 12 feet, 8 inches, and raced to a first-place finish in the 75-meter hurdles with a time of 14.6 seconds.
Betsy Westermann threw the shot put 30 feet, 10 inches, earning first place, and hurled the discus 64 feet, 9 inches, also earning first place. Britney Richardson was first in the 100-meter race with a time of 15.6 seconds.
The team of Patience Anderson, Kim Hunter, Sydney Ware and Ashliegh Hellard won the 400-meter relay with a time of 1:04. The 800-meter medley relay was won in 2:24 and run by Tolt’s Anderson, Coltom, Richardson and Nicole Carrigan. Erin Green placed second in the 100-meter race with a time of 16.1 seconds, and Michelle Scott was second in the shot put with a throw of 22 feet, 9 inches. Third-place honors went to Ware in the 75-meter hurdles, Carrigan in the 100-meter run and Hunter in the discus.
In the seventh-grade events, Kenya Marshall took first in the 75-meter hurdles with a time of 14.7 seconds, jumped 14 feet in the long jump for first place, and won the high jump with a height of 4 feet, 4 inches. She was third in the 100-meter with a time of 14.2 seconds.
Cayce Ramirez was second in the mile with a time of 7:09, and third in the 800-meter with a time of 3:19. Kalyn Porcello was second in the 800-meter with a time of 3:18. Stephanie Wolfram was second in the 400-meter with a time of 1:17, and third in the 200-meter with a time of 35.7 seconds.
The sixth-graders brought in seven first-place finishes for the team. Lisa Cullimore was first in all three of her events, running the 75-meter hurdles in a time of 10.9 seconds, racing the 100-meter in 15 seconds, and jumping 4 feet, 2 inches in the high jump. Nichole Rassmussen won the 200-meter with a time of 34.9 seconds. Ashliegh Tietje won the long jump with a 10 foot, 4 inch effort, and also took third in the 200-meter race, running it in 37.8 seconds. Christina Wheeler was second in the long jump with a jump of 8 feet, 10 inches.
Eagle boys beat Hawks
The Snoqualmie Middle School eighth-grade boys’ track team dominated the Chief Kanim Hawks 61-44 last Thursday.
Adam Rothgeb placed first in the hurdles and 200-meter run, and second in the 100-meter and high jump. Tom Peterson was first in the 1,600-meter and third in the 400-meter. Alex Rasmussen took second in the mile and 800-meter. Colin Parsons won the 800-meter, and Brandon Sales won the 400-meter race.
Alex Grazda took second in the 75-meter hurdles and third in the high jump, and also was part of the 400-meter relay team of Chris Krona, Jason King and Sales that took first place. The 800-meter medley relay team, consisting of Parsons, King, Trevor Louviere and Rob Jepson, also took first place.
Evan Lloyd was second in the 400-meter, third in the 800-meter and part of the winning 800-meter relay team that was comprised of him, Parsons, Rasmussen and Sales. In field events, Brian Warren was third in the discus, and Dan Meador was third in the shot put.
In seventh-grade action, the boys only had five members competing, but still scored 25 points. Zach Lamb took first in the hurdles, second in the long jump and third in the 100- and 200-meter races. Cameron Rogers was third in the hurdles and second in the long jump, and Brad Knowles placed third in the long jump.
Taylor Wise took third place in the 800-meter run, and Dan Dombrowski was second in both the shot put and discus. The 800-meter relay team, consisting of Rogers, Knowles, Dombrowski and Wise, placed first.
The sixth-graders lost to the Hawks by a score of 50-55. For the Eagles, Jace Derwin won the 100-meter race, and Justice Manson won the 200-meter and the high jump. Nick Schwarzmiller took second in the 800-meter run and the long jump, and placed third in the 1,600-meter. Ben Price was third in the high jump. Bruce Louviere took second in the 400-meter, the 1,600-meter and the discus.
John Person placed second in the shot put, and was also part of the medley relay team of Price, Cody Riches and Grayson Linklater that took first. The 400-relay team and the 800-relay teams also took first place and were both run by Linklater, Derwin, Person and Manson.
SMS tops Chief Kanim
Two of the three Snoqualmie Middle School girls’ track teams posted wins against Chief Kanim Middle School last Thursday. The seventh-grade team won by a score of 60-45, the eighth-grade team won 61-41, and the sixth-grade team fell by a score of 52-44.
The eighth-grade girls’ team performed and captured first in the 400-meter, 800-meter and medley relay events.
Individually, Meghan Dunklee took first place in the 75-meter hurdles and the 100-meter run. Shannon Kelley ran to a first-place finish in the 1,600-meter, and Vanessa Scalzo took first in the 800-meter. Kelsey Myers was first in the 400-meters.
Maggie Kujath took first in the long jump, and Natsumi Asanuma took second in the 200-meters and the 400-meters. Meagan Manson placed first in the shot put, and Dunklee was second in the long jump.
In the seventh-grade girls’ meet, it was the one-two finishes of Jessica Marley and Jordan Tipton in the 100-meter and 200-meter, and the first- and second-place finishes of Tove Garhart and Chelsea Eddings in the 1,600-meter and high jump that paved the way to a win.
Eddings also took second in the 75-meter hurdles, and Tipton was first in the long jump. Allyson Rosman was second in the discus and third in the shot. Brianna Westergren was second in the shot, and Collette Hatch ran a new personal best in the 400-meter, finishing in second place.
The sixth-grade girls’ saw first-place finishes from Paige Alexander in the 800-meter, Carrie Patterson in the shot and Julie Patterson in the discus. Kayla Grant captured two second-place finishes in the 100-meter and 400-meter, and Anika Granillo took second in the 75-meter hurdles and the high jump.
Amanda Magnuson ran to a second-place finish in the 1,600-meter, and Katie Stapleton placed first in the 200-meter race. Taking third place was Crystal Schreuker in the 100-meter, Julie Patterson in the discus, Carrie Patterson in the shot and Grant in the long jump. Magnuson also took third in the high jump, and Stapleton placed third in the 75-meter hurdles.
