`Cats drop crucial game to Islanders

The Mount Si boys basketball team traveled to Mercer

Island last week, hoping for a league-leading win, but it wasn’t to

be for the `Cats as they lost 76-61 in a battle of league division

leaders.

Mercer Island dominated early, leading the `Cats 22-14

at the end of the first quarter. Plagued by turnovers and

missed three-pointers, the `Cats couldn’t muster the offense necessary

to keep pace with the Islanders. At the end of the first half the

Islanders led 39-28.

From there, the Islanders’ Justin McCullum kicked it into

high gear to help Mercer Island pull away. Scoring for the `Cats

were Isaiah Cormier, leading the team with 25 points, teammates

Marc Dahm and Sean Fallows, each recorded 10. Mike Dahm had

seven, while Logan Ratcliffe and Vince Longbucco had five and four,

respectively.

Cedarcrest falls to Newport

The Cedarcrest Red Wolves dropped a game to the

Newport Knights last week 74-63. The loss puts the Red Wolves in the

cellar of the Valley division with no wins and six losses in league play.

Scoring for the Red Wolves were Chris Kracht with 19,

Jeffrey Coy with 11, James Conrick with nine, Nick Blanchard

with seven, Tommy Harding with four, D.J. Harding with four,

Brett deVries with four, Nick Rich with three and Kyle Eldred with three.

Mount Si boys rebound to win

The Mount Si boys’ basketball team, fresh off an

ego-deflating loss to the Islanders, came back to prove they have a

spot leading the Valley division. They handily defeated the

Newport Knights at home 69-53.

Leading the offense for the `Cats was Sean Fallows with

27 points, followed by teammate Isaiah Cormier with 24.

Logan Ratcliffe added two, Marc Dahm five, Mike Dahm five and

Brett Bergstrom two. The win gives the Wildcats a 5-2 league record

and a 11-3 overall record.

Cedarcrest trounced by Issaquah

The Cedarcrest Red Wolves were handed another loss

from Issaquah last week 75-49. Scoring for the Red Wolves were

Chris Kracht with 19, Jeffrey Coy with nine, Kyle Eldred with nine,

James Conrick with six, Tommy Harding with four and Brett deVries

with two. The loss gives the Red Wolves a 0-7 league record and

a 0-13 overall record.
