Order up! New independent living community serves made-to-order, full-flavor meals

Live cooking shows, chef competitions, a roadmap to the tastes of Southern BBQ… and so much more!

A good meal can bring comfort, energy and joy. It can remind you of home, or transport you across the globe. If it’s exactly what you’re craving — and exactly what your body needs — an exceptional meal can transform a good day into a great one.

That’s why Revel Issaquah is committed to providing an exceptional dining experience when residents move in this spring. The new independent living community will serve á la carte meals from two restaurants with experienced, award-winning chefs who take dining seriously, so residents can relax. Ovation, a modern American restaurant, offers a beautiful setting and an open kitchen. The Social Club transforms from a café feel in the morning to a lively pub atmosphere in the evening.

“We think made-from-scratch makes a big difference. It’s that authentic, personal touch that turns a meal into an experience — and a memorable one at that,” says Chris Wyrembelski, Revel District Manager with Unidine, the company that provides Revel’s custom dining experiences. “We know the bar is high. We set it ourselves.”

Making food fun

For residents fascinated by fine dining, Revel Issaquah will offer plenty of opportunities to engage. There’s the Taste of Revel Competition, where chefs from each Revel location across the country create custom dishes based on a theme. Residents have the opportunity to taste all eight creations, and vote for their favorites.

“November’s competition featured mini pies, and residents got to try blueberry lemon curd, banana foster cream, drunken pecan and more. Other competitions included truffles and cold soups,” Wyrembelski says. Revel also hosts Wine Down Wednesdays and the Culinary Theater, where Revel’s head chef prepares a specialty meal in full view of residents.

There’s no need to worry about missing a home-cooked meal either. Chefs offer modern American classics in addition to fine dining options, and all apartment homes are equipped with full gourmet kitchens for days residents prefer to do the cooking.

Taste the difference

Wyrembelski’s personal pedigree hints at the standard across all Revel Communities. He attended Culinary Arts school, honed his craft in high-end restaurants, and even competed in the 2012 IKA Culinary Olympics, where he won a bronze medal!

“I found my calling in senior living when I started with Unidine as a sous chef. I’ve been with Unidine for nearly eight years and love it. I truly enjoy working with our teams to create memorable experiences for our residents in our restaurants.”

This January, Revel has a number of culinary features, including a plant-forward theme with dishes like Couscous Beet Walnut Salad and a BBQ Plantain Sandwich. For the carnivores there’s the popup Barbecue Roadmap, highlighting Kansas City Chicken, Carolina Pork Tips, Texas Beef Brisket and more.
