Volunteers from the Snoqualmie Tribal Government and Snoqualmie Casino spread out across the Snoqualmie Valley on Monday, Nov. 20, to deliver 500 turkeys to organizations that help families in need and elders on a fixed budget have the means to celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday.

Among the organizations that worked with the tribe to distribute turkeys were the Mount Si Food Bank, Snoqualmie Valley Food Bank, Carnation Food Bank, Mt. Si Senior Center and Chief Seattle Club in Seattle.

“An important part of our tribal culture is sharing what we’ve been blessed with,” said Snoqualmie Tribal Council Member Bob de los Angeles. “It’s especially important during this time of year that we reach out to those in need. The Snoqualmie Tribe is happy to be in a position that allows us to make a positive impact in our local community.”

“As friends and family gather this Thanksgiving, a holiday that celebrates the harvest, it is wonderful that the Snoqualmie Tribe honors the seniors who have helped build and tend to this community we love,” said Susan Kingsbury-Comeau, Executive Director of the Mt. Si Senior Center.

The Snoqualmie Indian Tribe is a federally recognized tribe in the Puget Sound region. Known as the People of the Moon, Snoqualmie tribal members were signatories to the Treaty of Point Elliott in 1855. Snoqualmie Tribal enterprises provide over 1,700 jobs, and the Tribe has donated over $1.5 million to nonprofit organizations in the Snoqualmie Valley since 2010.
