Councilman Carlson will seek mayorial post in fall

NORTH BEND – Just days after Mayor Joan Simpson announced she would not seek a third term, Councilman Ed Carlson announced he’ll look to fill that slot in the fall.
Carlson, a veteran member of the council, said his decision to run was spurred by the leadership void that will be left with Simpson not seeking re-election and council members Jack and Elaine Webber relinquishing their posts because of a move to Snoqualmie.
“As the senior member of the council, whether you like it or not, you feel some responsibility [to run],” said Carlson. “I’ve been thinking about it for some time, but it’s been in the last year or so that I decided this is something I wanted to do.”
