Mary Mae Andrealli Krahn
Mary Mae Andrealli Krahn died peacefully on April 12, 2013.Mary was born on July 27, 1928 in Snohomish, WA to Robert and Rose Andrealli. She grew up on the family dairy farm in Carnation, WA with her older siblings Lena, Robert (Bob) and Dino.She met Robert Krahn of Portland in 1947, on a blind date arranged by Mary’s friend, Avabelle Brumbaugh Tallman of Carnation and Robert Tallman of Fall City. They were married in Carnation on September 18, 1948 and relocated in Portland where they raised son Rick and daughter Susan. Family trips to Carnation to visit Mary’s mother and brother were a regular event. Mary received a BFA from the U of Colorado at Denver where she and Bob lived for several years. She was a docent at the Denver Art Museum and then at the Portland Art Museum upon their return to Portland in 1981. She served as president of the Clackamas County League of Women Voters. Mary and Bob travelled extensively, including several trips to visit relatives in Chiavenna, Italy. She was active in helping to raise her three grandsons Ben Anderson, Joey Anderson and Andrew Krahn. Mary was a warm and gracious person who always found time to listen while others did most of the talking.Hers was a life well lived, dedicated to family, her Catholic faith and making the world a better place. A remembrance mass in her honor will be at St. Clare’s Parish, Portland at 7:30 am on May 1.
