Michael G. Cuddihy
Michael G. Cuddihy was born in Vallejo, California on May 23, 1950 to parents, James Richard and Florence Cecelia Cuddihy. Michael was the sixth addition to his one-hundred percent Irish family. He was raised in Walnut Creek and graduated from high school there. Following high school, he went to Chico State where he studied Biology. After college he traveled to Mexico where he spent a year traveling and fishing. In the 1970’s he made his way back to the states, eventually settling in Port Alexander, Alaska where he began a career as a fisherman. During the off season, he lived and worked in the Seattle area. This is where he began his family and added a long-time career as a school counselor to his work. He spent the last 20 years in the Snoqualmie Valley School District at Snoqualmie Elementary School. He was loved by students, staff and families. He will truly be missed.
Michael thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, rarely missing an opportunity to share stories. He loved to travel, explore, take car trips, golf, going on adventures, the Mariners and Seahawks, and beaches in Hawaii, just to name a few. He was a truly compassionate man who genuinely cared for the people around him, providing guidance, support, care and celebrations. He lived life to the fullest and often said he was the “luckiest man in the world”. Mike fully embraced and lived the life of happiness. His outlook was infectious. He always had a song in his heart which reflected the person he was. He will be thought of often and fondly remembered. We are deeply saddened, but our hearts are also filled with his love and joy for life. This is Mike’s legacy.
Mike died on February 4, 2015. He was at home in North Bend, surrounded by family and friends. He is survived by his loving wife, Desi Cuddihy; children Amber Willett, James Cuddihy, Ryan Hudson-Cuddihy; step-children Erin Hart, Stephanie Hart, Jake Hart; grandchildren Owen and Miles Willett. He is also survived by siblings Jack Cuddihy, Cathy McHale, Marilyn Ribarich, and Eileen McDaniel. Mike was preceded in death by his parents and brother Jimmy Cuddihy.
A celebration of Mike’s life will be held on February 28, 2015, 2:00PM at Snoqualmie Valley Alliance Church in Fall City. A reception at the church will follow immediately after the service.
