Snoqualmie police accepting ‘Chief for a Day’ nominations

Published 6:10 pm Monday, February 22, 2016

The Snoqualmie Police Department is participating in the Chief for a Day community event and seeking nominations from the community.

Chief for a Day is a statewide event, started to celebrate children diagnosed with chronic or life-threatening illnesses. The department is taking nominations for Valley children, ages 3 to 14, who suffer from such an illness.

The winning nominee will receive an honorary uniform, badge, and gift basket and will be officially sworn in as chief at the Washington State Criminal Justice Training Center. He or she will spend the rest of the day at presentations of SWAT vehicles and motorcycles, as well as fish and wildlife, K-9 and rifle units.

Along with the event, the department is holding a toy drive to help the winning child’s family with medical expenses. The donation goal is $5,000 and a wishlist will be posted to the Snoqualmie Police Department’s Facebook page once the Chief for a Day is chosen.

Send nominations to Deanna Mihelich at dmihelich@ci.snoqualmie.wa.us by March 15.
