Opinion not shared by all commissioners

I am writing in response to the letter to the editor that appeared in your paper last week submitted by Bill Weber, King County Fire Protection District 38 commissioner. I would like it to be known that Mr. Weber’s opinion is not the opinion of all District 38 commissioners.
In accordance with the State of Washington’s attorney general ruling and the opinion of King County Fire Protection District 38’s legal council, the spouse of a fire district commissioner can be a district secretary. I believe there would not be a conflict of interest if Mr. Parsons were to be elected as a District 38 commissioner. To suggest that because Mr. Parsons is a firefighter and a union member in a neighboring agency would create some kind of conflict of interest is bizarre.
I know that the voters of King County Fire Protection District 38 are smart enough to make up their own minds and make an intelligent choice on Nov. 6th.
Gary Stevens
Commissioner
King County Fire Protection District 38
