Reynolds performs well in meet

North Bend’s Georgia Reynolds recently competed in the Gymnastics East hosted “Pajama Party Meet.”

She placed fourth for in the 11-year-old age group all-around competition at level six. On the bars she had a score of 8.25; beam, 7.975; floor, 8.475; vault; and 8.350 for an all-around score of 33.050. Reynolds attends Chief Kanim Middle School.


Hole in one

North Bend resident Jeff Hansen recently made a hole-in-one at Mount Si Golf Course. The ace was made on the 14th hole at a distance of 134 yards using a nine iron. This was Hansen’s second hole-in-one.


Everett earns honors

2002 Mount Si graduate Kristen Everett was recently honored as the NAIA Region II player of the week both from her position as setter and as a player. Everett helped her team, Notre Dame de Namur, to a pair of Cal Pac wins recently. She averaged 15.40 assists, 1.20 digs and .40 blocks per game. She started the week of winning with 51 assists, four digs and a block in a home win over Menlo. She concluded the week with 26 assists, two digs and a block in a road win over Bethany.

Everett was the recipient of a new organ in 1989 after a community drive helped find and fund the transplant. She credits her success to Mount Si volleyball coach Bonnie Foote, as well as the donor in 1989.

Binger earns honors

Mount Si football standout Aaron Binger was recently named co-offensive player of the week in the Northwest Football Conference. Binger, a senior at Pacific Lutheran University and 1999 Mount Si graduate, gained 95 yards on just nine carries and scored three touchdowns in the Lutes’ 48-7 win over Lewis and Clark College recently.

Binger leads the Lutes in rushing with 352 net yards on 49 carries, despite missing the first two games of the season due to an injury. Binger also leads the team in points this season with six touchdowns. Teammate Dave Weller is second in points with two touchdowns, two field goals and 16 extra points. Binger also needs just 25 yards to set the new school record for career rushing yards currently held by Jeff Rohr, who accumulated 2,800 yards from 1980-83. The Lutes are currently 4-2 overall and 2-1 in conference play.


Weller earns honors

Mount Si graduate Dave Weller earned Northwest Conference special teams’ Player-of-the-Week in September. Weller, a 1999 graduate of Mount Si, made all three PAT attempts, kicked a 29-yard field goal and punted three times for a 44.7 yard average in the Pacific Lutheran University game against Chapman. He also caught three passes for 51 yards in that game. Weller is second behind teammate and former Mount Si graduate Aaron Binger in total points for the season with 34. He leads the team in pass receptions for 302 yards, averaging 15.1 yards per catch.


Bergstrom suffers injury

Brett Bergstrom, 2001 graduate of Mount Si, suffered a potentially season-ending injury against Sac City in California. Bergstrom plays for the Shasta College Knights. Bergstrom had been playing both the role of kicker/punter and strong safety until recently.

The former Mount Si standout has been the key to the Knights’ success and is known for pouring everything he has into a game. He has suffered a concussion and mild stinger’s throughout the season.
