Co-owners Pete Ferren and Jon Weller opened the doors to their Village Foods IGA supermarket on Snoqualmie Ridge on Thursday, Feb. 16, expressing gratitude for the community’s support.

“Lots of people have brought us to this day,” Ferren said. “We’re really excited to serve the Snoqualmie community.”

The supermarket features a variety of full-service departments including deli, bakery/espresso, meat, fresh produce, seafood, wine, a floral shop and a branch of the Falls Pharmacy in Snoqualmie.

Weller said he feels “overwhelmed” now that the store is actually open.

“The community has been so gracious to us,” he said.

The store’s general manager, Scott Elloway, was doing some last-minute stocking just after the store opened for the first time at 9 a.m., following a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Elloway said he is “really happy to be in this great location. This is a nice community that seems to be welcoming us with open arms.”

Elloway said he made sure to leave room for the store to grow. While he’s stocked all the basics, he wants input from community members as to what else they might like to see on the shelves.

“Our goal is to serve this community with what it is they want,” he said. “I hope to get some suggestions in. I think it’s a diverse community as far as people’s tastes.”

The approach Elloway said the store is taking is to focus on “service, price and quality.”

Village Foods IGA is open seven days a week from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.
