Americans should be outraged at Bush

Letter to the Editor

The Downing Street Memo is probably the most important story to break during the Bush regime. Eighty-nine members of Congress stepped forward to ask the president for an explanation and to date have not gotten a response. I know this because Jay Inslee, who is not even my representative, explained this to me in answer to my e-mail on the subject.

Where is the coverage on this event? I am finding swelling interest on the Internet, but most of the traditional news sources have remained mum.

I find it disgraceful that we no longer get real news as a matter of course. Where is the outrage that our president mislead us thoughtlessly into a war as pointless, futile and expensive as Vietnam?

The idea that this war has made us safer has to be wearing thin, even in the most resolute quarters. How can we be Americans if we don’t even know what is happening in our own country?
