Boys’ Basketball

‘Cats fall to Knights

After only putting up 15 first-half points, Newport outscored Mount Si 18-8 in the third quarter and pulled away in the fourth quarter to take a 54-40 win over the Wildcats. Luke Landdeck led Mount Si with 11 points and 10 rebounds while Jeremy Johnston scored 10 points. Kyle Clearman dropped in five points and teammates Erik Tierney, Jordan Proudfoot and Ryan Reilly each had four. Kevin Englund had two.


JV boys beat Knights

After being down 24-6 at the end of the first quarter, the Mount Si boys’ JV basketball team fought hard and came back to trail by seven at the end of the first half. Mount Si rallied to come within three at one point in the third quarter but the well-coached Newport team pulled away again to lead 36-32 at the end of the third.

Mount Si tied it at 42 by the end of regulation to send the game into overtime. They then pulled away in the second overtime to win 54-53.

Leading the Wildcats in scoring was Kyle Meuli and Gregg Beckmann, each with 13. Remo Castagno added one.

Cody Hyatt and Erik Alexander played an aggressive and dominant defense as well as contributing two and four points respectively. Kevin Englund dropped in five and Zach Bowen scored six. Tyler Littlejohn and Nick Dietsch played solid defense and Ian Atkinson contributed some outstandng passing.


Girls’ Basketball

‘Cats improve record

The Mount Si “C” girls’ basketball team improved their record to 2-1 with a 28-24 victory over Newport last week. Amy Ferree led the way with nine points ,followed by Camille Weber with six.


JV girls win

Behind the effort of Jessica Marley with 10 points and five steals, the Mount Si JV basketball team defeated Newport last week 36-26. Chelsie Eddings added seven points and eight rebounds to the effort, which brought the team’s record to 2-0.
