Seventh grade team pulls out game

Snoqualmie Middle School’s seventh-grade volleyball team

continued to stretch its wings at the Battle of

the Birds 2000.

They won the second game of the match against Chief

Kanim in great part due to the sizzling serves of

Erin Caldwell, who started them out with a 10-0 lead. Other key serves

were made by Alicia Elmore, Molly Stout and Erin Dunklee. Alas, the

serves then deserted them and they couldn’t pull off another game win for the

victory.

Dives and spikes were used on defense by Kylee Lobb, Caldwell

and Elmore. Brianna Westergren and Allyson Rosman remained poised

and confident on the court, and the injured Ali Bilow and Lindsay

Florence cheered the team on from the sidelines. This team has a lot of heart and

they will be back next year.

Kanim rolled by White River

Chief Kanim’s eighth-grade football team hosted White River

on Wednesday. The Hawks found themselves down early, as White

River marched the ball down the field on the opening drive and scored.

CKMS couldn’t move the ball on offense and had to give the ball back. The

halftime score was 13-0.

In the second half, the Hawks saw much of the same as White

River cruised to a 27-0 win. On defense, Chris Nevins led the team with

10 tackles and a fumble recovery. Logan McMackin and Zach Elmer

had seven tackles each. The Hawks will prepare for the upcoming night

game against Snoqualmie Middle School Nov. on 1.

Snoqualmie Middle School wins

Lots of practice and enthusiasm that couldn’t be contained helped

the Snoqualmie Middle School’s seventh-grade volleyball players win their

first game last night against the Islanders.

Even though the Eagles won one and lost two against Mercer

Island, they were able to taste victory for the first time thanks to the great

serving of Erin Cladwell, Alicia Elmore and Allyson Rosman. Standout

defensive players were Erin Dunklee, Brianna Westergren, Molly Stout and

Kylee Lobb.

SMS defeats Mann

The Snoqualmie Middle School’s junior-varsity football team earned

its third win by a score of 27-19, improving their record to 3-2 with the game

against Mann. The Eagle offense was powerfully lead by the

outstanding blocking line of Jacob Wirth, Zach Carlson, Chris Grewell, and

Levi Nelson, and with key runs by Beau Davis and Cody Hyatt.

Defensively, the Eagles gave up three touchdowns, but the defense

limited Mann’s offensive production. The Eagles will face Chief Kanim

next week.

SMS loses close game

Snoqualmie Middle School’s eighth-grade football team put

together effort and execution to give a tough Keithley team all it could

handle last Wednesday afternoon in Tacoma.

A pass by Alex Grazda to Zach Bowen in the first quarter got

the Eagles their first score, and Adam Rothgeb rolling left, throwing

right, found Derek Donah streaking down the sideline for a second score to

send the game into overtime.

Aaron Chadwell, Trevor Moore, Jonathan Mason and Chip

DeLurme were the horses up front, matching Keithley’s strength and desire.

Each team was determined to stop the other and it wasn’t until the second

overtime, as darkness settled on the field, that the Colts were able to

persevere with a 20-13 victory.

Brandon Sales, Manch Garhart and Chris Brown left some

Keithley players bruised and battered. The Eagles are looking forward to

taking this team effort to next Wednesday’s “Battle of the Birds” at 7:00 p.m.

under the lights at Mount Si High School. The Eagles are coached by

Brad Hillard, Jeremy Smith, Vernie Newell and Trent Bass.
