Wildcats give their all, but

A defensive miscue by the Mount Si High School boys’ soccer team lead to a Skyline goal that sent the Wildcats’ packing in last week’s 1-0 loss in the first round of the Kingco 3A conference tournament at Sammamish.
Skyline moved on in postseason action, but Mount Si’s season came to a disappointing halt.
“It was kind of unfortunate that we gave up that goal because we played very, very well, and we really limited the offensive opportunities that [Skyline] had. And it wasn’t a great goal, but you know, that happens,” said Mount Si coach Tom Bialek.
Execpt for the one miscue, Mount Si played a solid, clean, end-to-end defensive game. The Wildcats came out of the gate with two quick scoring opportunities. The team narrowly avoided a scare in the ninth minute when an apparent Spartans’ goal was called back due to an offside penalty.
Mount Si came close to hitting the net in the 25th minute when Yosef Yetneberk tried to break away from the Skyline defense, but Spartans’ defender Brandon Nelson broke up the play. Yetneberk had several more scoring chances before halftime, but all went for naught.
