PGA Champions Tour stops in Snoqualmie Aug. 22 to 28

Snoqualmie’s Tournament Players Course will be a PGA destination next week as 81 golf pros arrive to compete for a $2 million purse in the annual PGA Tour of Champions tournament, the Boeing Classic.
Starting Monday, Aug. 22 with the Seattle Seahawks traditional Rumble on the Ridge, the Boeing Classic features events for fans and families plus an executive women’s day, youth golf clinic with the pros and the traditional Boeing jet flyover Friday morning, to mark the start of the pro golf tournament.
Rumble at the Ridge is a fundraiser for the Benaroya Research Institute at Virginia Mason, Pete Carroll’s “A Better Seattle” and additional programs supported by Virginia Mason. Local and national celebrities including NFL Hall-of-Famers and such former Seattle Seahawks as Sam Adkins, Jordan Babineaux, Nesby Glasgow, Jacob Green, Damon Huard, Norm Johnson, Dave Krieg, Steve Largent, Sean Locklear, Charly Martin, Steve Raible, Mack Strong, Randall Morris, Sam McCullum, Warren Moon, Ricky Watters, and Jim Zorn, will join the good-natured competition, along with Boeing CEO Phil Condit, golf club designer Roger Cleveland, former NFL players Blair Bush, Mike Haynes, Mark Lee, Lawyer Milloy, Ray Pinney, Mark Rypien, Jack Thompson, former Seattle Sounder Roger Levesque, and former Seattle SuperSonic, Slick Watts.
On Tuesday, the Emirates Youth Clinic pairs young golfers with pros for lessons, noon to 1 p.m. at the driving range. Youth ages 6 to 18 are invited to this free event. No golf clubs are needed.
Friday’s flyover, by Korean Air, at around 11:20 a.m., will kick off the main event of the week, the Champions tournament, which runs through Sunday.
Saturday is Family Day, with a morning of activities, plus free admission for children 14 and younger, when accompanied by a paying adult.
In recognition of U.S. service-men and -women, the Boeing Classic hosts its annual Military Appreciation Day Sunday, Aug. 28. Active, retired and reserve military and their dependents will receive free admission and free parking to the event, plus, access to the Patriots Outpost tent on the 18th green, for free food and drink.
Paid parking lots, with shuttles to and from the course, are available on Mill Pond Road (off S.R. 202), and on Snoqualmie Parkway (from I-90).
