Former Humboldt State linebacker Taylor Mitchell of North Bend was named to the National Football Foundation & College Hall of Fame’s prestigious Hampshire Honor Society in Arcata, Calif.

Mitchell was one of 882 football student-athletes from 280 institutions across all levels chosen to the impressive group. To be eligible for membership, nominated student-athletes must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.2 or better, be a starter or significant contributor to their team in one’s last year of eligibility and must be meeting all NCAA or NAIA-mandated progress towards degree requirements.

The Mount Si High School graduate is Humboldt State’s first-ever Hampshire Honor Society honoree. He was a Second Team All-GNAC selection and helped lead the Lumberjacks to a GNAC championship and the second round of the NCAA Division II playoffs. Mitchell registered 68 tackles (33 solo). A CoSIDA Academic All-Super Region 3 Team selection this year, Mitchell was also a semifinalist for the William V. Campbell Trophy and compiled a 3.90 cumulative grade point average as a business administration major.
