Kelly Heintz of North Bend successfully completed the AgForestry Leadership Program and was honored at a graduation ceremony in Pasco, on May 6. She is a program-project manager with King County Department of Natural Resources and Parks.
AgForestry Leadership has a distinguished history of developing critical leadership skills for those working within, or connected to, Washington State’s natural resource industries.
Over an 18-month period, members of Leadership Class 37 attended: 12 in-state seminars on communication, public speaking, transportation and various agriculture issues; a one-week seminar in Washington, D.C.; and a 14-day international seminar in Thailand and Laos.
Participants studied local, state, national and international public affairs issues and how they interrelate; learned how to analyze issues in a decision-making process; improved interpersonal and communication skills; and studied issues influencing Washington State’s natural resource industries and rural communities.
The AgForestry Leadership Program is operated by the Washington Agriculture and Forestry Education Foundation, which has developed leaders for healthy farms, forests and communities since 1978. The program has more than 1,000 graduates and is funded by generous donors representing individuals and businesses in the natural resource industries from all across the state.
