Letter: New gas station plan ends reader’s support of tribe protests

Published 8:30 am Wednesday, June 1, 2016

I am stunned to read May 18th article regarding the Snoqualmie Tribe building a 12 pump gas station on their “tribal lands” at the casino.

I am mystified and very angry. I have had some sympathy with their opposition to the development that has been planned for a decade across from the Snoqualmie Falls property owned by the Muckleshoot Tribe.

No longer.

For this tribe to bring even more petroleum products, danger and toxicity into our Snoqualmie Valley is really craziness.

When they defend the beauty and spirituality of the “sacred lands” and then desecrate it with the toxicity, cancer-causing products they are sinking tanks into the ground and creating even more dangerous traffic with the trucks bringing the gas products to the Valley.

Well, stupidity, lies and really fake ideals ring a loud bell in my head. They really think that they are seen as serious in their words blaming others for desecration of “their sacred lands”?

I laugh in their faces. I feel no empathy any longer for anything they have to say.

They are surely not serious about what they feel, how they think, or their intent to keep this beautiful Snoqualmie Valley healthy and vital environmentally. This is a shame.
