Letter| Try answering the phone to eliminate endless political calls

Tired of endless political/donation calls?

You can actually help yourself by choosing to answer the phone, at least once. I have been a political phone bank caller on and off for years, and I often wonder who creates the call lists since so many appear to have bad numbers.

Nearly half of the bad numbers seem to be the result of a child coming of age to vote and, still living at home, listing their parents’ home number as their contact information. After they leave home, they never contacted the Secretary of State’s office (http://sos.wa.gov) to update their information.

Some calls just result in immediate hangups, which never gives us a chance to update our lists and remove their names. Consequently they continue to get calls from unknown sources.

You all are likely on a long list of callers organizations. Next time, you may want to try answering at least one call, to explore how your number got on that list and to have it removed… from at least that one list.
