Mount Si High School’s robotics team won the “Robot Control” Award at the state championship event Jan. 30.
The award, also known as “Mastering robot intelligence,” is given to the team that best uses sensors and software to enhance the robot’s functionality on the field. The team must demonstrate innovative thinking in the control system to solve game challenges such as autonomous operation, enhancing mechanical systems or using sensors to achieve better results on the field. Also, the team’s Engineering Notebook must contain details about the implementation of the software, sensors, and mechanical control.
The Mount Si Robotics team members are Max Cannella, Spencer Dolecki, Shaym Gandhi, Quinn Gieseke, Tyler Grimm, Thomas Hendrick, Preston Henning, Beau Johnson, Hans Johnson, Jessi Lelas, Rahul Rajkumar, Vishnu Rathnam, Morgan Ross, Donovan See, Noah Vaughn and Coach Kyle Warren.
“This is a well-deserved recognition for the team’s effort… Kudos to Mr. Warren and Mr. Adams for teaching these courses and mentoring the students,” said Ram Rathnam, parent and supporter of the robotics programs.
Also at the state competition, the Chief Kanim Middle School robotics team finished 11th out of the 32 teams competing in grades 6 through 12.
The Snoqualmie Elementary School robotics team won the Judges Award at the state semi-final event on Jan. 24.
The robotics students will give a demonstration of their work at a variety of events, including the Snoqualmie Elementary School Science Fair, Friday, Feb. 26.
