Night Out: Where police work meets families

Snoqualmie Police hosted their second annual National Night Out, Tuesday, Aug. 5.
The event helped police and local families make connections for safety. Children also thrilled to the all-terrain vehicles, fire engines and a real police dog.
“We wanted it to be a real family-oriented event,” said Snoqualmie officer James Sherwood, who helped organize the event. “We wanted to bring the community to the police department, for them to meet us, take a tour of the department.”
“It’s nice to give something back, and bring them closer to us. We’re not just doing police work, but also events with the community,” Sherwood added.
Mikaila Flores of Snoqualmie, meets a bomb-sniffing dog, Sissy, owned by Kerry Kintzley of North Bend, a State Trooper. She works in the ferry system, sniffing cars.
Families gather around Chris Moszeter, Valley enforcement office with the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife, as he shows off wild animal skulls and pelts and talks about his work.
Seth and Nyan Hartman, brothers, are both part of the Snoqualmie Police Explorers club. Police explorers learn about police work and take part in knowledge competitions.
