The Snoqualmie Valley Community Network’s Be the Change youth leadership conference is 8:30 a.m. Saturday, May 3, at Chief Kanim Middle School, 32627 S.E. Redmond-Fall City Road, Fall City.
Over the last seven years, the leadership conference has evolved into a place for local teens to be inspired about making a difference. Youth voice and leadership are important. The conference is about hearing those voices and expanding that leadership.
Luis Ortega, leadership coach, will lead the conference, accompanied by trained youth co-facilitators and other adult presenters from the community.
Topics for this year’s conference, selected by youth, include:
• Making friends and social skills
• Managing stress
• Making sense of legalized marijuana
• Preventing sexual assault and sexual bullying
• Live it up! Don’t give it up!—suicide prevention
• Farm to table food.
