Toes tapped Sunday, Nov. 24, as Harley Brumbaugh kept the music coming. About 80 people came to “I Hear America Singing in 1940,” the musical program at the Snoqualmie Valley Historical Society’s annual meeting, Sunday, Nov. 24, at Boxley’s place.
Past President Gardiner Vinnedge convened the meeting with a vote on the officers and board, conducted by ‘ayes’ from the crowd.
Then it was time for the tunes, as curated by Brumbaugh, who was 6 in the seminal year of 1940, which was studied and written about by the society this year.

Remembering tunes
At least a few hands raised every time Brumbaugh asked how many folks remembered these tunes.
Brumbaugh, formerly of the Horns of Plenty, Bellevue Community College, local community choirs and regional high school, is a consummate choir leader. He had a story or icebreaker for each number.
