School days are here: Back to class slideshow at Fall City Elementary

Summer’s end was a welcome event at Fall City Elementary School, where classes began last Wednesday, Aug. 29. Students leaped off their buses and charged into the buildings, so intent on reaching their new classrooms, they almost skipped the good-bye kisses and photos. MaKena Daniels, navigating the “big kids” hallway for the first time, barely heard her Dad, trailing behind with a large bouquet of flowers for the teacher, when he asked if she was excited to start school.
Younger siblings, too small for their own school days, were also excited about school, even though they were just visiting. Three-year-old Cole Egbert carried his own lunchbox along to see off his brother, Malachi, in his first day of second grade, and Isaac Ehrenberg, about to start Kindergarten, couldn’t leave without a hug from school registrar Julie Blaskovich.
Some students burned off their excess energy with a trip to the playground, before that first bell that meant forming lines, raising hands and learning a lot for another year.
As one aide declared, just before the families began flooding the hallways, “Only 180 days to go!”
