Wilda Patricia Kantola, 92, longtime Snoqualmie resident, peacefully left us on Friday, May 11, 2012 in her daughter’s home in Gig Harbor, Washington.She was born on December 29, 1919 to Fredrick John and Eudora Bales Wildberger in Sumas, Washingon.She graduated from Nooksack Valley High in1931. Wilda met the love of her life the summer of 1938 and six months later on December 28, 1938 became Mrs. Walter Kantola. Walt and Wilda had three children, Sandra, Karla and Bob. Sandra and Walt preceded Wilda in death, in 1985 Sandra and 1995 Walt. After the wars years the Kantola’s moved to the Snoqualmie Valley in 1948, where Wilda started selling beauty products. Then in 1954 they went in to the farming business with a friend and so Wilda said goodbye to beauty products and hello to barn and cow products. Then in 1960 they moved to Longview, Wilda loved all the trees, parks and beauty of Longview and instantly began making lots of friends. She became very active in community affairs and some of her happiest times were the years she served as President of the Longview Women’s Club. She is survived by her son, Bob of Silverdale, WA, a daughter, Karla (Ron) Western of Gig Harbor, WA; nine grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Sunday, June 3rd at 2:00pm at Steele Chapel at Longview Memorial Park. The family request memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society. Steele Chapel at Longview Memorial Park and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
