$17,000 in mini-grants go out from Snoqualmie Schools Foundation

The Snoqualmie Valley Schools Foundation recently awarded 18 small grants to eight schools in the district, totaling $17,083.
Grants were awarded in many areas of curriculum, including language arts, special education, science, marketing, geography, and general education enhancement.
The following are the grants, by school:
• Chief Kanim Middle School received $300 for comic book maker software.
• Mount Si High School received: $870 for adaptive PE equipment for special needs students; $2,000 for Natural Helpers training; $1,580 for a camera and tripod to make videos for the social norms marketing campaign; $100 to send 28 DECA students to a conference; and $2,611 for science lab units.
• Twin Falls Middle School received: $350 for microphone headsets to engage students through technology; $1,000 for Natural Helpers funding; and $2,300 for video camera upgrades.
• Cascade View Elementary School received: $120.45 for “Time Wise” five clocks displaying timezones throughout the world; $510 for a “Let’s Drive our Teachers Buggy!” Nature Vision presentation; and $609.66 for portable CD players for use in “Read Naturally” lessons.
• North Bend Elementary School received: $525 for eight GPS units to be used in the classroom; and $600 for “Access for All” ebooks.
• Fall City Elementary School received $1,695 for a science website subscription.
• Snoqualmie Elementary School received $766 for first grade writing workshop materials.
• Opstad Elementary School received $280 to send 80 second graders to the Burke Museum for a field trip.
The foundation also awarded the district $866.25 for toolkits for each elementary school’s English-languge learners.
