Three Forks park would create bottleneck

Take into consideration the congestion at the Middle Fork bridge/

Mount Si trail bottleneck and it is picture perfect of what the Three Forks Park planners will impose on our 428th Avenue Southeast and Reinig Road corner.

The park planners and the executives who are pushing this deal down our throats could care less about the natural beauty of this sensitive area and the congestion it will bring in the future to these narrow, “line-of-sight” problem roads. Just to put trails through this beautiful area alone seems to border on insanity because of the naturalness, wildlife and riparian beauty of this sensitive area.

A county parks representative stated, “We’ll police the problems, and if you don’t see the sheriff out there, I’ll personally go get him for you.”

Folks, how stupid does this guy think we are to believe that he will take care of the mass problems that are to come. Just the trash alone merits a “no-go project.” Additionally, the history of parking lots, trails and interpretive county projects lacks care and good judgment for the people who live near or around these park projects.

Ernie’s Grove, Riley Addition and Moon Valley residents all should “weigh” the possible and very likely hardship of this stupid parking-lot, “bottleneck” traffic problem. Additionally, the hikers, bikers, volkswalkers, etc. – which already at times cause danger and delays on these narrow line-of-sight roads – will only increase the danger and delay.

The old school and Moose lodge site being developed for this proposed parking lot will be a great drug sale area, party haven and place for “trash-dumping,” careless-type campers. Previous track records and police reports show former bike gangs used these premises for rock band, drug-infested parties – and folks, that’s most likely where this project is headed, “Back to the Future” or return to the vomit.

Additionally, this project is “in your face” and “out of your pocket” due to the cost to complete it, and providing continued maintenance will not only cost us, but future generations of taxpayers, our kids.

Toilets, whether permanent or portable, should not be considered given the close proximity to either the city of Snoqualmie or North Bend, and yet the planners believe this is just a wonderful addition to our area. Just the flooding problems alone baffle the sound thinkers of this endeavor to urbanize this sensitive, wildlife area. Also, does the environmental impact statement include the flooding impact? Flooding alone would require additional maintenance costs.

Finally, there’s the job justification. Cushy salaries for park executives who need this project should not continue. This whole project stinks.
