Thanks for the help during Railroad Days

The 63rd annual Snoqualmie Railroad Days Festival was held Aug. 3-5 in downtown Snoqualmie through diverse weather ranging from clouds and rain, to sunshine. For the 45-plus volunteers who committed their personal time and energy (over 450 combined hours during that weekend alone!) to staff the festival and the Tour de Peaks Bike Ride, the weather mattered very little. The combination of Valley residents, business owners and HAM radio operators all wore smiles and worked hard – donating to their community what I know was precious free time for each of them.
It is to these energetic and wonderful people – as well as the Valley’s business owners and corporations who so graciously sponsored the festival with food, merchandise, gift certificates and money – that I want to express my sincere and heartfelt appreciation for making this year’s Snoqualmie Railroad Days a success. In addition, I would personally like to thank: Ed and Donna Wentz; the Snoqualmie Valley Chamber of Commerce (with Camille Dec, Susan Hankins & friends Chris Grina, Duane Mumma, Kim and Bryan Karrick and the other terrific chamber members) for doing such an outstanding job staffing the Tour de Peaks Bike Ride; Mayor Fuzzy Fletcher; the city of Snoqualmie; and the departments of public safety, parks and public works for their contributions. A very special thank you goes to the 2001 festival committee: Bruce Jeffers, Gale Lawrence, Richard Anderson, Jim Schaffer, Diane Humes, Debra Whalawitsa, Patty Pecora, Sheri Absher and Don Isley, who together contributed over 1500 volunteer hours during the past year to produce a festival for their community. My hat is off to all of you. It has been a true pleasure working and learning together.
Regretfully, space here does not allow me to list the festival’s 93 monetary and in-kind sponsors. So this is a call to all in the Snoqualmie Valley. Please help us thank the many local businesses, for without their generous donations, there would be no local community festivals. Please buy locally, and support them as they have supported us.
