School improvements a sound investment

With last weeks opening of school, residents of School District No. 410
had an opportunity to see their tax dollars at work. Remodeling efforts
at Snoqualmie Elementary and Snoqualmie Middle School are nearly
complete, and with their completion, the entire district has a new,
refreshing look.
Will the new look, paid for by your tax dollars, be more conducive
to learning? The answer remains to be seen, but school pride is very
important, and I would think that most students in District No. 410 have an
increased level of pride in their new facilities.
And let’s not forget that improved facilities have brought an increased
level of technology to our classrooms, and technology can be
extremely conducive to learning, if properly used.
In addition to the benefits for students, are benefits to the district
and ultimately the teachers. The ability to attract and retain quality teachers
and administrators is also crucial. Improved facilities and increased
technology will allow the district to attract and keep a higher caliber of teachers,
which is a tough thing to do in East King County with home prices as high as
they are.
So, congratulations to the voters-taxpayers of Snoqualmie Valley. You
have an education system that you can be proud of.
