Railroad Days a success thanks to all

The 65th annual Snoqualmie Railroad Days Festival was held Aug. 1-3 in downtown Snoqualmie. For the first time in years we had the cooperation of the weather people. They blessed us with ample amounts of sunshine.
For the volunteers who committed their personal time and energy (over 450 combined hours during that weekend alone), thank you. The combination of Valley residents, business owners, Snoqualmie Valley Rotary members, the Legends Car Club and HAM radio operators all wore smiles and worked hard, donating to their community what we know was precious free time for each of them.
It is to these energetic and wonderful people – as well as the Valley’s businesses and corporations that so graciously sponsored the festival with food, merchandise, gift certificates, and money – that we want to express our sincere and heartfelt appreciation for making this year’s Snoqualmie Railroad Days the success it was.
In addition, we would personally like to thank Mayor Fuzzy Fletcher; the city of Snoqualmie; and the Departments of Public Safety, Parks, and Public Works (a special note to Todd Shin, Dusty Possert, Bill Dalman, Larry White, Darell Rammell, Don Harris and Ramon Roque for their extra efforts) for their very helpful contributions.
A very special thank you goes to the 2003 festival committee that included Teri Willhight, Tracy McKenzie, Jim Schaffer, Sheri Absher, Shanna Greggs, Sheryl Knights, Gloria Hart, Cindi Horste, Debra Whalawitsa and Lisa Schaffer, who together contributed over 1,750 volunteer hours during the past year to produce a festival for their community. Our hats are off to all of you; it has been a true pleasure working and learning with you.
Finally, a call to all in the Snoqualmie Valley: please help us thank the many local businesses. Without their generous donations – large and small – there would be no local community festivals. Please buy locally and support them as they have supported us. They are: the city of Snoqualmie, Key Bank, Safeway, Glacier Northwest, the Snoqualmie Tribe, Quadrant Corporation, Sno Falls Credit Union, Philip’s Oral Healthcare, Puget Sound Energy, The Falls Pharmacy, NorthFork Enterprises, Wilderness Glass, Rosebud River Ranch, Northwest Railway Museum, Salish Lodge and Spa, Sanmar, The Valley Record, Nb3 and CS Maintenance.
This year we invited a local model railroad group to display their exhibit and with the help of Kenney’s Northwest Experience, we added chainsaw carving to our mix. We hope you enjoyed the additions.
If you have ideas or suggestions for next year’s event, we invite you to be a member of the Snoqualmie Railroad Days Festival team. We welcome new members to join our committee and would love to have you with us!
