Neighborhood no place for flow relief

As a citizen of Snoqualmie for nearly 10 years and a Maple Avenue resident, I was frankly appalled at the planned outlines for the downtown city of Snoqualmie when the subject of Maple Avenue came up. The idea that this is to be considered as an arterial to SR 202 is amazing?
As stated in last week’s paper in an article by Ben Cape entitled, “Plan outlines big changes,” the story goes on that they are considering Maple, a street that is flanked with cars on both sides of the road, as an option for flow relief of SR 202.
Maple is a standing residential neighborhood where residents work under their cars in the streets because they don’t have garages and driveways; where children ride their bikes; and neighbors leisurely stroll across the street to visit. There is just not enough room for all of this.
There is no way you can have two semi trucks passing in opposite directions on Maple and have it safely working well.
Common sense tells us that diverting the traffic in any way through Maple Avenue does not make sense and would be devastating to the residents of that neighborhood!
