Incident doesn’t reflect on department

A recent article in The Seattle Times stated that a volunteer firefighter and supporter of my opponent punched me. This is true. I was assaulted.

The man who assaulted me has been trying to depict the incident as a mutual brawl. It was certainly not. Furthermore, I do not see this individual’s reckless behavior as a reflection upon the devoted men who serve our fire department.

I know most of our firemen, and I can assure you that they are a very disciplined, devoted, respectful and professional team, and they deserve our respect. My campaign will continue to focus on the issues and the strength of my arguments and priorities. I thank all those who have supported me in this unfortunate matter.
