Choice is between elitism, social equality

In our democracy, there is no room for elitism. In the upcoming election for the Snoqualmie City Council, I get the sense that Matt Larson thinks he can rule by superiority (Elitism: I’m better, more enlightened, far seeing, plain smarter than most of you people, constant criticism and I know what’s best for you). For examples, it appears he desires to eliminate the city’s fire department (approved by the people), sacrificing the safety of others and reallocate those critical financial resources to the construction of a community center; he also hardly ever has anything good to say about the city government of Snoqualmie.

On the other hand, incumbent councilmember Colleen Johnson believes that our democratic system demands representation as the guiding principle in governing “of the people, by the people and for the people.” In her tenure as councilmember, Ms. Johnson has long demonstrated her ability in standing for the best interests of her constituents, carefully balancing the needs of a growing community and supporting the critical functions of the fire and police departments in providing fast and local responses with important city oversight and management responsibilities for these vital community services. Please vote to re-elect Ms. Johnson as your city council delegate to ensure the principles of representation and social equality.

We’ve been governed by folks who knew what was best for us before and we voted them out, let’s not mistakenly vote them back in.
