Casino detrimental to Valley living

Published 12:56 am Friday, October 3, 2008

We are writing to express our deep concern about the plans to build a casino off of North Bend Way in Snoqualmie. There are at least 20-plus residential homes on the west side of the acreage the Snoqualmie Indian Tribe is considering, and many homes on each side of the property. Many of the property owners we have talked to are very concerned about this proposal and are very much against it. There are several families who have expressed their opposition.

Snoqualmie is noted for its quiet and beautiful surroundings. The noise, traffic congestion and increase in people around this residential area would be very detrimental to peaceful community living. It was reported recently that a group is planning on constructing some sort of building for rock band concerts, etc. on the property of the Snoqualmie Winery, which is just above us. We have already had a taste of that this past spring and summer. Again, it is more noise (at least that is what we hear from our home) and increased traffic. We want to express our concerns about this and hope that the casino will be built in another area away from communities with families and children so the country living that so many of us enjoy will not be taken away.

We have a meeting scheduled with Cheryl Pflug, our state representative, later this month. We would like to encourage others who are against this site for a casino to contact her.
