A suggestion for further city restraints

Having spent most of my adult life in journalism, dealing with government at one level or another, I have determined that not only can you not legislate against stupidity, you occasionally find it creeping into elective office.
Perhaps when North Bend Councilman Ed Carlson – dare we call him Mullah? – is finished badgering the good citizens who live in, and pass through, his city about cell phones, he can move on to another project. I have just such an endeavor in mind that seems to suit his curious approach to dictating public conduct.
Maybe he could propose an ordinance that prohibits women from going in public unless they are fully cloaked and veiled, and accompanied by a male member of the household. Where cell-phone users would be fined $300 for their indiscretions, this new initiative would follow the precedent already set by the former government of Afghanistan. Violators would simply be beaten with sticks.
Sure made Kabul a popular destination for tourists.
