Fourth-quarter spurt secures win

The Mount Si Wildcat girls’ basketball team pulled out a win in nonleague action against Nathan Hale last week, 41-36.

The Wildcats (5-6) outscored the Raiders 15-5 in the final quarter to seal the win. Rachel Travis scored 12 points, while Nicci Landdeck added 10 for Mount Si. Others scoring for Mount Si were Kristen Travis with nine, Lizzie Finnegan with nine and Kristen Berndt with one.


CHS wrestlers pound Spartans

In their continuing efforts to dominate KingCo 3A wrestling, the Cedarcrest Red Wolves demolished the Skyline Spartans last week 72-9.

The meet started at the 135-pound class with the Red Wolves’ Tate Brammer pinning A.J. Kiss at the 2:34 mark.

Other finishes were as follows: 140 pounds, Sean Keveren (S) defeated Cody Hudson (C), 5-1; 145 pounds, Andrew Claussen (C) won by forfeit; 152 pounds, Tony Stedman (C) won by forfeit; 160 pounds, Alan Shults (C) won by forfeit; 171 pounds, Adam Speir (C) pinned Jake Goetz (S), 2:30; 189 pounds, Tyler Johnson (C) won by forfeit; 215 pounds, Cole Birk (C) won by forfeit; 275 pounds, Vong Ly (C) won by forfeit; 103 pounds, Stephen Gunderson (C) won by forfeit; 112 pounds, Tyler Stearns (S) won by forfeit; 119 pounds, Aaron Pedeferri (C) won by forfeit; 125 pounds, Kurtis Lett (C) pinned Brooks (S), 5:11; 130 pounds, Darren DeBoer (C) pinned Matt Wittmier (S), 3:24.


‘Cats blast

past Tyee

The Mount Si boys’ junior-varsity basketball team cruised to an easy win last week, 54-36 over Tyee.

Top scorers for the ‘Cats were Hank Kennedy with 13, Erik Tierney with 12 and Casey Hough and John Karlen with nine each. Karlen led in the rebounding department with 14 boards, followed by Kennedy with 10. Kennedy also had three blocked shots, and Luke Landdeck had four steals.

The game was never really in doubt after the first few minutes, as the Wildcats led 32-16 at half-time, and coasted through the second half to an 18-point win.
