Duthu, Fowler, Nicholson and Heath gave a stellar performance filled with lifts, throws and winning smiles. Their one-minute routine was flawless with the judges awarding them enough points to bring home a first-place finish in the four-person stunt division.

The Mount Si Wildcat girls ‘basketball team had to wait an extra day to play, but it didn’t matter as the they clinched at least a tie for a berth in the KingCo Conference tournament with a hard-fought 58-43 win over Interlake. It was the final regular season 3A KingCo Conference home game of the year for the Mount Si girls.

“We’re really excited that we won this game. This is one we needed to get and we got it,” said Mount Si coach Dirk Hansen.

Nicci Landdeck scored a game-high 19 points to lead Mount Si, while freshman Rachel Travis scored 16, including two critical three-pointers in the fourth quarter, to pace the Wildcats. Fellow freshman Whitney Beyerlin also hit an important three-pointer in the final quarter and finished with 5 points. Erin Gibson led Interlake with 13 points, and Dana Allen pitched in 12 for the Saints, but the loss of their 6-foot center, Erika Kanikkeberg, likely hurt the Saints in the end. Kanikkeberg injured her right ankle late in the first half, and sat on the bench with ice on the ankle the rest of the game.

The Wildcats were scheduled to finish the regular season Friday at Bellevue, then the team is scheduled to play a loser out tie-breaker with Newport on Tuesday.
