‘Cats topple Cedarcrest
The Mount Si varsity baseball team scored four runs in both the second and third innings and one run in the fifth to propel them to a 9-3 win against Cedarcrest last Saturday.
Marc Dahm had four RBIs and a three-run home run, and Mike Dahm, Aaron Svarthumle, David LaBelle and Brent Clarke each had home runs. Jeremy Bess hit a double and scored a run, and Bryce Kaestner and LaBelle each had doubles.
All of Cedarcrest’s scoring came from solo home runs in the fourth and fifth innings by Shawn McDonald, Matt Geiger and Nick Rich. The win for Mount Si brought its league record to 4-3, while Cedarcrest fell to 3-4.
CHS squeek past Bellevue
The Cedarcrest baseball team outscored Bellevue by one run in the seventh inning to beat the Wolverines 6-5 last Monday.
Sean McDonald went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and brought in two runs for Cedarcrest. Dan Amador, Matt Coombs, Devin Cooch and Brian Smith also drove in runs.
Interlake beats Mount Si
Mount Si lost to Interlake in junior-varsity baseball April 6 by a score of 4-1. Nick Kirschner pitched seven strong innings, but a lack of offensive and defensive support kept the Wildcats out of the game.
Interlake scored three runs in the bottom of the first inning on Wildcat mistakes, and Mount Si missed several opportunities by stranding runners in scoring. A solo home run in the bottom of the sixth inning solidified the win for the Saints.
Mount Si suffers loss
The Mount Si junior-varsity baseball team lost to Issaquah last Monday by a score of 10-2.
Taylor McLellan and Tyler Roy each spent time on the pitcher’s mound for the ‘Cats but were unable to prevent the Saints from scoring four runs in the first six innings.
Newport sinks Cedarcrest
The Cedarcrest varsity soccer team lost 9-0 against Newport last Tuesday. The first eight goals came one right after the other in the second, fourth, 11th, 12th, 32nd, 34th, 36th and 42nd minute of the shutout and were scored on goalkeeper Chris Manhke.
Newport’s scorers were Will Weatherly with three goals, Pedro Batres with two and Danny Yusen, Mike O’Hara, Joseph Losplen and Eisler with one goal each.
Wildcats lose to Saints
The Mount Si varsity baseball game against Issaquah last Monday ended with the Saints winning 1-0.
Issaquah’s Dane Woldseth hit a home run in the first inning, and neither team was able to score for the rest of the game.
Mount Si’s Marc Dahm led off the first inning with a double. In the third inning, Marc and Mike Dahm each had base hits, but Aaron Svarthumle hit a line drive that was caught by the Saints’ center fielder, killing a two-out rally.
Mike Dahm pitched all seven innings, and gave up three hits and one run.
‘Cats claw Skyline
The Mount Si baseball team came from four runs down against Skyline last Wednesday to edge out a 6-4 win over the Spartans.
Skyline scored one run in the first and three in the second. But then in the third inning for the ‘Cats, Mike Dahm singled and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Aaron Svarthumle laid down a sacrifice bunt and beat the throw from the pitcher to first base. An error on the throw from first to second allowed Mike Dahm to score.
The next five runs for Mount Si came in the fifth inning. Josh Serrick and Tyler Osborn singled. Then Marc Dahm laid down a sacrifice bunt. With Mike Dahm batting, Serrick scored on a wild pitch.
Dahm walked to load the bases, and Svarthumle singled, bringing in Osborn. Marc and Mike Dahm both crossed home when Matt Poth hit an infield ground ball. Svarthumle was forced out at second. The throw to first was wild, and Poth went to second base. Then Brent Clarke hit a double to the left-field fence that brought in Poth. Bryce Kaestner pitched all seven innings, giving up eight hits and striking out six batters.
