Jones Bumpus fall in first round

Heath Jones and Brandon Bumpus made it to the first round of the KingCo Conference tennnis playoffs for Mount Si, but faced a determined team in Christian Geiger and Mike Gangel from Skyline.

The duo lost the match to Geiger and Gangel, 6-3, 0-6 and 6-2.


Indians beat Red Wolves

Cedarcrest put in a tremendous effort last week in girls’ varsity soccer, but fell short, losing 2-1 against Issaquah.

Issaquah scored first on a goal by Lauren Dascenzo with an assist by Meghan Saunders at the 40-minute mark. The Red Wolves answered with a goal of their own when Kim Drew, on an assist from Mallory Leumman, scored at the 50-minute mark.

Issaquah came back 10 minutes later, with Kirstin Wood scoring on an assist from Karen Frost.


Cedarcrest defeats Interlake

The Cedarcrest Red Wolves soccer team defeated the Interlake Saints last week 1-0. Nikki Neilson scored on a free kick in 52 minutes into the game to lift the Red Wolves over the Saints.

Goalkeeper Jessica Sode recorded the shutout for Cedarcrest.


‘Cats dump Newport

The Mount Si girls’ soccer team recorded an impressive win against the Newport Knights last week, 3-0.

Kristen Berndt, Whitney Chelgren and Angela Jones each scored a goal in the first 23 minutes for Mount Si, with goalkeepers Kristin Travis and Caitlin Braun combining for the shutout.


‘Cats fall behind Cedarcrest in cross-country championships

The Cedarcrest Red Wolves boys’ cross-country team took seventh in the league with a score of 204, ahead of Mount Si, which took ninth with a score 243.

Issaquah took top honors in the league with a score of 52 on the 3.1 mile Lake Sammamish State Park course. Individually, Brian Lee of Cedarcrest took 27th with a time of 17:08. He was the only local runner in the top 30.


Mount Si girls place eighth

The Mount Si girls’ cross-country team took eighth place with a score of 248 at this year’s league meet held at Lake Sammamish State Park. For Cedarcrest, Kelly Ramirez placed 10th with a time of 19:47 and was the only local runner to place in the top 30.


Issaquah defeats Red Wolves

Kirsten Wood and Sarah Burdick each scored goals as the Indians defeated the Red Wolves, 2-1 in varsity girls’ soccer action. Kim Drew scored off a Mallory Leumann assist in the 50th minute for Cedarcrest.


Wildcats defeat Newport

The Mount Si volleyball team racked up another win, defeating third-place Newport, 15-9, 4-15, 15-4 and 15-8. The win gave the Wildcats a record of 8-3, good enough for second in the Sky Division.


Red Wolves blast Saints

Cedarcrest improved its record to 4-7 with a win over Interlake last week, 15-13, 2-15, 15-12 and 15-2.

Megan Townsend had four aces, six kills and 10 digs; Krista Swanlund had six kills, five blocks and two digs; Kara Lawson had one ace, one assist, four kills and six digs; Stephanie Ayers had three aces, one kill and eight digs; Maile Marshall had one ace, one assist, two kills and six digs; Heather Ekstrom had two kills and three digs; Chrissy Byrne and two kills and one block; Paula Leite had three aces and five digs; Karly Regalia had one ace and three digs; and Sarah Hornsby had two digs.


Patriots defeat Red Wolves

Liberty pulled out a win in five sets over the Cedarcrest Red Wolves to remain firmly in second place in the Valley Division. Scores for the matches were 9-15, 15-8, 15-13, 9-15 and 15-11.

Leading the effort for Cedarcrest was Stephanie Hern who had two aces, 34 assists, one kill and 22 digs; Megan Townsend had one ace, 11 kills, two blocks and 17 digs; Kara Lawson had one ace, two assists, nine kills, three blocks and 13 digs; Maile Marshall had two aces, six kills and 18 digs; Christa Swanlund had eight kills and six blocks; Heather Ekstrom had one ace, four kills and six digs; Crissy Byrne had four kills and two blocks; and Stephanie Ayers had three aces and four digs.
