Powerlifters place at state

The Mount Si powerlifting team took fifth place in the state championships at Ephrata High School last week.

Erica Tawney took first place in the 181-pound weight class, Bobby Taylor took second place in the 165-pound class and Brad Connor also placed second in the 242-pound class.

Pat Carter placed third at 148-pounds, and Paul Bartholomew and Jack Kiske each placed fifth in the 181- and 198-pound weight classes, respectively. Geoff Hise, weighing in at 242 pounds, took sixth place.

Hoop camp at Cedarcrest

The Cedarcrest girls’ basketball team is holding a Riverview Girls’ Hoop Camp this summer.

The camp lasts from 9 to 10:30 a.m. for grades kindergarten through 4; from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. for grades 5 through 8; and 1:30 to 4 p.m. for grades 9 through 12.

The camp runs July 31 to Aug. 3 at the Cedarcrest High School gymnasium. It is an opportunity for girls in grades kindergarten through 12 to have fun and increase their skill level.

The fees are $40 for kindergarten through 4, $45 for grades 5 through 8, and $50 for grades 9 through 12. There is no fee for current “Wolfpack” members.
